The route Melis Alparslan took into university basketball

Guard — listed at 5'10" on the 2024-25 roster and 5'9" on the 2025-26 and 2026-27 rosters

Turkish (hometown listed as Ankara, Turkey; citizenship not separately stated)

Athlavia had no involvement with Melis Alparslan. She has not used this product, is not connected to it and has not endorsed it. Everything on this page about her is drawn from the published sources listed at the foot, and cited so you can read the originals. The sentences about what an association’s rules permit are ours; they are statements about a rulebook, they are marked as such where they appear, and they are not about her.

No photograph. Roster images belong to the universities and photographers who made them.

The route Melis Alparslan took, drawn as the levels she played at, in the order her sources place them.
Before university: Türkiye. Her sources describe this in words, not as a level.
Stop 1: University of Rochester, NCAA Division III.

One institution on the record: University of Rochester, NCAA Division III. 9 of the 110 routes documented here include a stop on that row. The rows above and below are the frame of reference, not places she was.

Left to right is the order the sources place her stops in. It is not a time axis: 54 of the 181 stops recorded across this site carry a bare pair of dates and the rest are prose, so the years are printed as written, in the list below.

The rows are the NCAA’s own three divisions, plus two dashed rows for everything outside them. NAIA and U SPORTS are separate associations rather than a lower NCAA tier, and nothing in these records ranks them against it; the two-year colleges sit at the foot because a junior college is an institution players transfer on from, which the records do say. The shaded bar behind each row is how many of the 110 routes documented here include a stop at that level.

The institution on the record

Printed as written. The drawing above compresses these; this list does not, because every caveat in the research lives inside these sentences.

What these levels are, and what money can exist at them

These are facts about rulebooks. They apply to everyone at that level, and none of them is a statement about her.

NCAA Division III

NCAA Division III forbids athletically related aid outright. A place there can be an excellent one and will never carry a basketball scholarship.

What the rules actually say at NCAA Division III

Where she was before she left

IDF Bilkent (İhsan Doğramıcı Foundation Bilkent school), Ankara, Turkey. No club team is named in any source.

What happened, in the sources’ account

Melis and her twin sister Deniz arrived together from Ankara as first years in 2024-25 and have both stayed at the same Division III programme since, appearing on the 2025-26 and 2026-27 rosters. She is listed as a guard majoring in computer science.

What is known about money

NCAA Division III forbids athletically related aid outright, so no basketball scholarship exists at University of Rochester.

No source we fetched states what she received, if anything.

6 of the 110 routes documented here have a source stating any financial term at all. The other 104 do not, and that is normal rather than a gap in the research: a university announces a signing as a roster addition, and what a player was offered stays between her and the programme. Read silence as silence.

What our researchers found about money

No source states anything about money.

Copied without editing. Like the checking notes further down, some of these sentences are instructions to the person writing this page rather than statements about her.

Nothing is published about her financial aid. No source states any amount, percentage or type of award. Division III does not permit athletically related aid, so any funding would have come through ordinary academic-merit or need-based routes — but no source describes hers.

What happened since

as our sources stood when they were read

Not applicable and not published — a current undergraduate, listed as a junior on the 2026-27 roster.

No retrieval date is stored against these sources, so treat anything time-sensitive — a current club, a current roster — as needing a fresh check.

Athlavia’s note on this route

Everything above is drawn from the sources. This is our editorial judgement about why the route is worth showing, and it is the only opinion on this page.

Two sisters from the same school in Turkey both landed at the same Division III university in the same year. That is a recruiting story driven by admissions and academic fit rather than by scholarship budgets — at Division III there is no per-player scholarship allocation to ration, because there are no athletic scholarships at all. It shows that the D3 route can take more than one player from the same family or the same school, which is rarely possible where scholarship numbers are capped.

This set has not been through the balancing pass, so it may over-represent Division I.

What we could not confirm

These are the checking pass’s own notes, copied without editing. They address the person writing this page, which is why some are phrased as instructions. They are published because a list of what we removed is worth more than an assurance that we checked.

What the second pass removed or corrected

  • SOURCE REMOVED: the previous draft cited a bio page at /roster/melis-alparslan as a separate source. That URL renders the full roster, not an individual bio. Only roster tables were used here.

What is still unknown

  • The March 2026 CSC Academic All-District honour went to Deniz, not Melis. Do not transfer it.
  • Her listed height changed between rosters (5'10" in 2024-25, 5'9" thereafter). Prefer the most recent, or omit the height.
  • She is a current student; re-verify before publication if time passes.

2 further notes in our file are not published here. A note is withheld when it states a date of birth or an age, names a relative, or is an internal editorial instruction about which records to keep.

Researcher’s own rating: 88 out of 100. This is the checking agent’s self-assessment, not a measurement. Across the 110 records it runs from 62 to 93, so the source count above it tells you more.

Athlavia had no involvement with Melis Alparslan. We did not advise, represent or place her, and we do not know her.

This page describes a public sporting record: where she played, at what level, and what published sources say about that. It carries no photograph, no date of birth and no contact details, and we do not report anything about her health beyond what her own sources state and what the route requires.

If you are Melis Alparslan, or represent her, and want anything here corrected or this page removed, write to support@athlavia.com and we will act on it.
